The State Government has introduced new planning exemptions to support small business and cut red tape.
These exemptions, which come into effect today, mean business owners won’t need planning approval for a range of small projects and change of use proposals.
This includes uses that are well suited and encouraged within our town centres, commercial areas and mixed-use areas including cafes, restaurants, retail shops, small bars, consulting rooms and private recreation facilities.
The new planning exemptions will streamline approvals, make it easier for people to make small improvements to their homes or businesses and help our local economy by getting people back to work.
